This bag measures roughly 11″ wide by 8″ tall and 2″ deep and features 2 top grab handles, an adjustable crossbody strap, 1 interior slip pocket and 2 exterior slip pockets.
To get started, you will need the following supplies:
- ½ yard main fabric
- ½ yard lining fabric
- ¼ yard accent fabric
- ½ yard midweight interfacing*
- 2½ yards 1½” webbing
- (1) 12” #5 zipper by the yard
- (1) 8” #5 zipper by the yard
- (2) #5 zipper pulls
- (2) 1” D rings
- (1) 1½” strap adjuster
- (2) 1½” swivel clasps
- (9) 6mm or 8 mm double cap rivets and setting tool (*optional but highly recommended)

With this purchase, you will be mailed a paper version of this pattern with full pattern pieces, detailed pictures, and step by step instructions. It will come in a resealable plastic bag with a vent hole and convenient hanging hole. This pattern is designed to be used with any self-healing material such as cork, leather, vinyl etc as the edges are left raw (with the option of using edge paint to finish off the edges.) Do NOT try making with cotton fabric! This is a beginner friendly pattern, but you should be comfortable with inserting zippers, and cutting & sewing accurately which will make all the difference in the overall end look since the edges are left raw. If you’ve never sewn with cork, vinyl or leather before, please read the “Tips & Tidbits” section carefully where we share our tips for sewing with these materials.
Specs: Finished wallet is approximately 4” wide by 7” tall, has 6 recessed card slots, (with a closure tab to keep them secure), a long slip pocket, and a lined zippered main compartment.

Blue Calla Coneflower Crossbody Bag – Paper Pattern
The Coneflower cross body bag is a great, medium-sized unisex bag. It is an easier project, perfect for confident beginners.
It has an exterior zippered pocket on one side and a main flap closure with two magnetic snaps, concealing a hidden pocket perfect for a regular iPad. You can carry the bag with the flap towards your body for added security or carry it with the flap pointing outwards.
For the bag’s interior, there are two slip pockets and one zippered pocket.
The bag can be made in a variety of fabric types: fabric, cork, vinyl or waxed canvas. You can interface your bag with fusible fleece for a softer structure or with foam for a more structured look, according to your personal preference.

Simple but stylish, The Squiffy Sling is a great beginner sew. With fun asymmetrical styling but just one pattern piece for outer and lining, it’s a quickie!
One of my most popular sewing patterns, this is a great pattern for showing off your interesting fabrics. Use a solid fabric in a bold colour to contrast with your faux leather base overlay, or use a fun design to really make the shape of the bag pop.
The pattern includes instructions on using a half moon magnetic snap, creating a fully lined cross body strap and adding both zip and slip pockets. There are also placement markings for using a different fastener on the pattern piece.
As this bag sewing pattern has just one main pattern piece, you might find it easiest to use non-directional fabrics.
